5-Minute Resets

Five-Minute Journal

No prompt is required to be profound. Just get it out of your head and onto paper.

  1. 1Grab any paper and pen, or a notes app if that's what's available.
  2. 2Set a timer for five minutes and write without stopping to edit.
  3. 3If you don't know what to write, start with "Right now I feel..." and keep going from there.
  4. 4Don't reread it while the timer is running. Just keep writing.
  5. 5When the timer ends, stop — you don't have to reach a conclusion.
